John W. Griffin, Jr. is well known as one of Texas' most successful lawyers, and as one of Texas' Super Lawyers. He has tried more than 60 cases to a verdict in commercial, employment and other high profile cases. He is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in two fields: Civil Trial Law and Consumer and Commercial Law. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in civil cases in state and federal court. He is one of the country's leading advocates for workers with disabilities.
Active in both national and community affairs, he served as Chair of the National Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association in 2011. In 2008, he was named by Texas Governor Rick Perry to the Texas Diabetes Council, where he represents families with diabetes. He is former Chair of the Board of Directors of the Victoria Bach Festival, a week long chamber music festival, renowned as "a Texas Treasure" by National Public Radio. He is a long time member of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism.
A native of Port Lavaca, Texas, Mr. Griffin graduated from Austin College in 1978. He earned his law degree from the University of Missouri in 1981 and entered the private practice of law in 1983 after serving as a lawyer on the staff of State Comptroller Bob Bullock for two years. He serves on the Committee on Texas Pattern Jury Charges: Business, Consumer, Insurance and Employment. Finally, Mr. Griffin is a member of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, and the American Board of Trial Advocates.
